Woven on the British Isles from the finest cashmere. We are especially proud of our exclusive partnership with this mill, established in 1767. The outstanding quality of the wool, the unique depth of colour, and the pattern give this scarf a luxurious appearance. This stylish companion sits cosy and warm against its wearer.

Why did we choose cashmere? At House of Scotland, everything revolves around wool. Cashmere has the advantage of being a very soft and lightweight fibre, making it ideal for wearing directly against the skin. The workshop from which we source our exclusive scarves uses a globally unique process known as the "ripple effect":

Dried teasel heads are traditionally arranged in rows on two metal bars around a large rotating drum.

The cashmere fabric is dipped in water sourced directly from the Pennine Hills. This water is perfectly suited to the process, as it has the optimal alkalinity to achieve the characteristic soft surface. The fabric is then wound around a large rotating drum, which, as it turns, makes the teasels wet and flexible while their delicate hooks gently brush over the cashmere.

The teasels gently brush over the milled cashmere, carefully teasing out the fibres. The key lies in achieving the perfect "snap" at just the right moment. The teasel hooks break off once the right moment has been reached. This delicate balance between pressure and release creates a unique textural effect — the subtle, shimmering sheen that defines premium cashmere, which you'll find in this scarf.
