Lambswool scarves
Our lambswool scarves are made in a traditional weaving mill in the Scottish Borders, right on the banks of the River Ettrick. From dyeing to weaving to finishing, every step happens under one roof – we have been sourcing our scarves from this very mill for more than 35 years.
How your lambswool scarf is made
It starts with fine lambswool, spun into yarn and dyed in the characteristic tartan colours.
On specially set-up weaving machines, thread by thread, the classic tartan check takes shape – a craft passed down through generations at the mill.
After weaving, each scarf is cut to size and finished with a fringed edge.
Finally, every finished scarf is carefully checked for weaving flaws – only those that pass this inspection make their way to us in Zurich.

Frequently asked questions
How do I clean a lambswool scarf?
The best first step is simply to air it out well – sheep's wool is a natural material that cleans itself. For stains or dirt, a damp cloth or the good old soft clothes brush is usually enough – gently brushing it out. If it really is necessary, the scarf can also be washed, either by hand or dry cleaned. For hand washing, we recommend using House of Scotland wool detergent to protect and care for the natural fibres.
How big is a lambswool scarf?
Our classic line measures 180 cm x 24 cm – long enough to drape, narrow enough for everyday wear.
What is the difference between a lambswool and a cashmere scarf?
Lambswool is sturdier and easier to care for, cashmere finer and lighter. Both can be worn year-round.
