Traditional Kilt made from 100% pure wool

The traditional men's kilt is sewn by hand yes, you read that correctly by hand. This manual craftsmanship reflects a deep rootedness in Scotland's long tradition and history. It requires a high degree of skill and practice, as the hand stitches usually remain invisible. Consequently, kiltmakers need more time, which should be taken into account when ordering. Please allow at least three months; it can sometimes take longer.

The Traditional Kilt is also known as an 8-yard kilt, as more fabric is used in its production to achieve the deep pleats (approx. 8 cm deep). Furthermore, the initial edge is frayed in three layers. The increased labor and material costs require more time and patience, or rather, a longer period of anticipation.

The traditional kilt is typically used for formal occasions, such as celebrations or weddings. However, the traditional kilt is also perfectly suitable for everyday wear.

At House of Scotland, we have extensive and excellent experience with the traditional kilt. Through direct collaboration with a small weaving mill in Scotland, we have direct access to hundreds of fabrics and tartan patterns, as well as to a network of traditional kiltmakers. You will appreciate the quality of the fabric and the craftsmanship. We work exclusively with small Scottish kiltmakers who have been crafting kilts for generations and are masters of their trade. Queens and kings have had their kilts and Scottish skirts made in Scotland.

We offer a 'Made to Measure' service in Switzerland for women's (Scottish skirts) and men's kilts.
