Fancy a classic tartan?

Woven at a traditional mill in Scotland from 100% lambswool, this beautiful stole features a classic, timeless pattern that you can wear casually over the shoulder, as a scarf, or as a wrap in any season. The natural material wool keeps you warm like no other, while remaining soft and cosy.

Background on the Black Watch tartan check:

Around 1725, during the reign of King George I, a patrol (watch) made up of six clans was recruited in the Scottish Highlands. This "watch" was given the tartan known today as Black Watch, so that they would be easily recognisable. The uniform consisted of a 12-yard length of fabric wrapped around the waist. The Black Watch uniform was completed by a scarlet jacket, a red waistcoat and the bonnet.

The Black Watch tartan did not only play a role in the Scottish Highlands. This tartan check, worn everywhere today, became a fixed part of the British Army and was regularly used until 2007.
